Vaalaipoo (Banana Flower) Vadai Recipe


  • Vaalaipoo (Banana Flower) – 1 Cup
  • Dhal – 2 Cup
  • Green Chilli -4
  • Curry Leaves – Few
  • Coriander Leaves –  Few
  • Onion – 2
  • Ginger and Garlic- Few
  • Fennel – 1 Teaspoon
  • Oil – As Required
  • Salt – As Required



  • Peel the banana flower petals and remove the white small florets inside chopped banana flower.
  • Soak the dal in water for 2 hours.
  • Take a mixer jar add soaked dal, ginger, garlic, fennel and salt grind well.
  • Add green chilli, onion, banana flower, curry leaves and coriander leaves.
  • Mix it well. Wait for a few minutes.
  • Heat oil for deep frying in a deep frying pan and shape the vada into small flat discs and deep fry until browned and crisp.
  • Serve hot with coffee / tea!
