Spicy Mutton Biryani Recipe

Ingredients

  • Mutton – ½ kg
  • Onion – 400 gm (Sliced Thinly)
  • Tomato –  300 gm
  • Green Chilli – 2
  • Basmati Rice – ¾ kg
  • Red Chilli Powder – As Required
  • Turmeric Powder – 1 Teaspoon
  • Cumin – ½ Teaspoon
  • Cardamom – 5
  • Fennel – 2 Teaspoon
  • Bay Leaf – 3
  • Cloves - 3
  • Star Anise -1
  • Cashew Nut – 5
  • Poppy Seeds – 2 Teaspoon
  • Ginger – 50 gm
  • Garlic – 75 gm
  • Mint Leaves – Few
  • Coriander Leaves - Few
  • Oil – 50 gm
  • Ghee – 100 gm
  • Curd – 200

Method

 

  • Take a jar adds ginger, garlic, poppy seed, fennel, cumin, cashew nut and grind the find paste.
  • Take a pressure cooker add mutton, few spices paste, few onion, few tomato, one green chilli and water. Cook for 3 whistles.
  • Wash rice and soak for 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Drain it completely to a colander and set aside.
  • Heat little ghee and little oil in a Pan. Add few onion and fry until golden brown colour.
  • Switch off the flame transfer the onion to the plate.
  • Heat a same pan and add little oil.
  • Add cardamom, bay leaves, star anise, cloves, green chilli, onion and fry until golden color.
  • Add mint leaves, coriander leaves and mix well.  
  • Add red chilli powder, turmeric powder, spices paste and mix well.
  • Add tomato, salt and cook 2 minutes
  • Add mutton, rice and mix well.
  • Take a pressure cooker add enough water. Bring it to a boil.
  • Add mutton and rice mix, curd and mix well.
  • Close the cooker and cook for 1 whistles.
  • Take a biryani in a bowl and garnish with pepper powder, dry graphics, cashew nuts, coriander leaves and fried onion.
  • Mutton Biryani is ready. Serve with raita and salad.
