Beet Root Kola Urundai Recipe


  • Oil – As required
  • Fennel Seeds (Sombu)
  • Garlic – 5 Cloves
  • Ginger – 1 inch
  • Curry Leaves
  • 10 Shallots (Small Onion) or ½ Big Onion
  • Salt – As required
  • Kadala paruppu (Channa Dal) – 2 Tablespoon
  • Grated Beet Root – ½
  • Grated Coconut – 2 Tablespoon
  • Pottu kadalai (Roasted Bengal Gram) – 2 Tablespoon
  • Coriander



  • Take a Kadai, Add oil, when oil heated add Fennel Seeds, Garlic, Ginger, Curry leaves, Small onions and saute well for 2 to 3 minutes. Add little salt, Channa Dal and saute well.
  • After a few minutes add grated beet root, grated or chopped coconut and saute for 2 minutes.
  • Take a mixie and grind the roasted mixture.
  • Now transfer the grinder mixture in a bowl add coriander leaves.
  • Grind 2 Tablespoon Roasted Bengal Gram as fine powder and keep it separately.
  • Add Bengal gram powder into the beetroot mixture, check salt at this stage, add water as required and mix well.
  • Take a Frying pan add oil heat well, Now make small balls of beetroot mixture and fry in the oil for few minutes.
  • Tasty crispy Beetroot Kola Urundai ready. It is very yummy very crispy on outside and inside it is very soft & tasty.
